This reading made me think of the time when African Americans were shipped across the seas to be auctioned off as slaves for whites. This reading reminds me of a movie i once saw about Africans being shipped off to other areas in the world to be sold as slaves but i do not remember the name of it. I would like to know if some slaves were stuck on the boat forever or if they all get auctioned off at one point. The message of this reading was that African Americans were not treated in the right manner at all in the past. I was most interested in how they managed to fit so many people inside one compacted area. It makes me angry and it is sad to know that many of them died from this and some were killed for not working hard enough. This reading makes me understand how strong African Americans are and how much of a long way they have come in the past 200 years. Being auctioned off as an object even though you are a human being sounds ridiculous in my opinion. Overall i enjoyed this passage because i learned that much more about other people and not just people from my culture.
