This story makes me think of a time where immigrants to the country learned how to get things done from the Indians. During the story the Indians fear the immigrants because many of the Indians were getting sick while the immigrants were around. The Indians were frightened form there piers being killed and then said they would take the immigrants where ever they wished to go. The Indians left the sick and only took the strong and healthy on there journey with these immigrants. The main priority for the immigrants was to find a way to grow and get maize. At this time the Indians were suffering form the lack of rain because now they could not grow any crops without water. The Indians asked them to pray for rain and indeed they did. The Indians showed them ways to get to where they wanted and at the same time most importantly showed the immigrants new ways of cooking. If they didn't learn how to cook they would have never survived on their journey to find the maize. Indians told them they must eat for seventeen days a hand full of deer tallow on the journey route they told them to take. They listened and at the end of there journey they found the harvest of maize, squashes, beans, and blankets of cotton.
